The new company headquarters in Reuthe is a striking demonstration of the possibilities of timber modular construction in office buildings. Designed as an elongated and clearly structured volume, the building positions itself confidently within the landscape and expresses the idea of serial construction through its architectural form.
A total of 32 prefabricated timber room modules were stacked to form a two storey volume and combined into a continuous building structure. Two stair cores provide both transverse and longitudinal bracing while simultaneously organizing the circulation within the building. The ground floor, partially embedded into the slope, was constructed using solid construction and accommodates the entrance area as well as a parking garage.
To ensure the flexibility required for office use, open timber modules were employed. These allow for different office configurations within a clearly defined structural system. Due to the high level of prefabrication, the building was completed in only six months, demonstrating the particular strengths of timber modular construction in terms of construction time, efficiency and architectural clarity.
